mfiles
The site first appeared on the scene in May 2000 as an experimental site on free web-space to share classical music files created using Sibelius. (Following the lead set by the X-Files, mfiles stands for the music files.) The site was then ported to a professional hosting company and formally launched in its current format in March 2001 with a wider free-ranging scope, and a particular aim to bridge the divide between Classical Music and Film Music. For the foreseeable future, the intention is to build up a sizeable catalogue of Sheet Music, MIDI files and MP3 files, together with informative content in the form of articles, reviews and reference material about composers and their music. Please note that mfiles provides music files free of charge. Our only source of income is through banner advertisements and affiliate schemes.

Music I Have Transcribed
This page used to be called Music I have typeset in ABC. I'm still using ABC for the input, but the actual printing is now done by Lilypond. For new files, I'm putting up both the ABC input, and the lilypond source, which often has information (like incipits) that isn't in the ABC, although I'm still trying to keep the ABC correct as far as it goes. My Transcribe
No fees, just "frees." Your source for free sheet music. Pieces marked with a " T* " have been transcribed by yours truly. It's important to realize that when a piece is transcribed, certain subtle rhythms and notes may have been lost on the transcriber. I reccomend aquiring a copy of the song you are trying to learn and using the transcribed music along with your own ears. Also, the music is only meant to be a guide. Use your creative instincts and play the music the way you think it musically makes sense. |
